Where do I start!!! An incredible oasis of a little town on one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. Let the crowds go to Bellagio, this is where I want to be! The apartment is spacious and full of character. On the grounds is a neat little garden that we walked through and enjoyed each day. We picked fresh produce, what a treat. Clara is a gracious host and we loved the talks and time we spent together. The lake is a short distance from the apartment. So short that our young kids would walk to bike by themselves often. Thank you Clara for making our trip a great one!

We had an amazing time at Luca's, in Mandello del Lario. ||The apartment is a very good deal, considering its location, its size and its condition. ||First and foremost, the location.||Mandello is a perfect spot to explore Lake Como. It is very well connected with the train to Lecco and Milano, and it also has a ferry connection to nearby villages on the lake. ||Mandello is a small town from which local inhabitants commute to Lecco for work i.e.: it's a real little town, with real people and not just tourists. ||If you want to experience true Italian life, this is where you want to go.||The center of the small town is absolutely adorable. You can envoy delicious ice-cream or a lazy aperitivo from the main square, facing the lake in a very pleasant / quiet atmosphere, which is much more relaxing than having to deal with the crowds in Bellagio - which, by the way, is somehow overrated..||On top of it, Mandello's municipal lido is by far one of the best along the lake. It's huge, with easy access to water, with shady areas (lots of trees) and safe for children. Access to the lido is actually free, but you can rent sun beds for a small amount of money. ||This is a a great asset. As we explored the lake, we found that in most places, the lido is either really tiny of fully private. ||Now coming the apartment itself, its location is perfect: you can walk down to the lido or the center of Mandello in 10 minutes (hardly any traffic, quiet stroll).||It's also super close to the train station (5 min walk) which is very convenient for day trips with the train.||The garden is very big so you can easily park a car if you drive to Mandello.||The apartment itself can easily accommodate up to 5 people (about 60 sq. meters).||It is absolutely spotless and you will find everything you need to cook a meal. ||It has been renovated recently (wall painting is bright and clean) and it has a lovely little balcony with a small table, which is a good bonus. ||And above all, it has so much charm... Don't expect Ikea furniture here. You will find mostly vintage furniture / objects from the 40s/50s and old wooden floors||It makes such a difference!||The ceilings are very high so even when it was hot, we manage to breathe and sleep quite well. ||The only thing you have to be aware of is that the main road and the railways are quite close to the house (about 200 meters), so you can hear them a bit when you are in the garden, but luckily, none of the rooms overlooks the main road and they overlook the garden and a very quiet path. ||So noise was not an issue (though I'm very sensitive to it), and I never used earplugs to sleep. ||Last but not least, Luca, our host was a perfect host. Always available to answer our questions, give us tips on what to do, and very helpful with everything. ||So all in all, the place is a little gem, and I hope that I will have the chance to return some day!
